Guidewire shows continuing commitment to UK market with key business development appointments

LONDON, 1st March 2010 – Guidewire Software®, a leading provider of core system solutions to general insurers, has announced two new appointments to its UK sales team as demand for its solutions continues to grow in this important market.

David Salisbury is appointed as Regional Sales Director.  He has specific responsibility for business development across Guidewire’s product lines in the UK market together with Ireland
Benelux, the Nordic countries, Russia and South Africa. David has extensive experience in the London market, domestic property and casualty and international businesses.

David joins Guidewire from Oracle Corporation, where he was responsible for insurance application software sales in the UK and South Africa as a key member of the firm’s recently formed Insurance Global Business Unit. David has over 20 years’ experience working in the insurance sector, first as a broker and subsequently for a number of specialist software houses.

David will work alongside Guidewire’s other Regional Sales Director, Tracey Robinson, who joined the company last year to target growth opportunities in the UK, Ireland and Nordic regions. Both report to Pete Espinosa, Vice President, Worldwide Sales.

Chris James is appointed as Functional Presales Consultant.  In this role he will work with prospective customers of Guidewire systems to identify relevant key benefits and demonstrate their functionality. Chris reports to Alistair Rivans, Guidewire’s EMEA Industry Principal and will play an important role in supporting the sales team’s efforts.

Prior to joining Guidewire, Chris was Principal Consultant at leading resource scheduling provider BusinessSolve Ltd, where he provided pre and post sales consultancy to clients and designed and implemented bespoke solutions. Chris is a senior technical consultant with over 14 years’ experience supporting blue chip clients including Deutsche Bank, KPMG and Tesco. 

The appointments mark the continued growth of Guidewire in the UK and European markets. Commenting on these appointments, Pete Espinosa, Vice President Worldwide Sales, Guidewire Software, said: “David and Chris bring a combination of insurance market and technology expertise that is directly relevant to our growth plans. We are seeing mounting interest in our insurance solutions, building on the success of our ClaimCenter solution. These appointments will play a pivotal role in supporting our push into the UK and European markets with our PolicyCenter and BillingCenter core system products.”

Guidewire has a number of UK insurance customers including: Beazley Group, QBE European Operations, Homeserve, NFU Mutual, and Towergate.  The company has regional offices in: London, Munich and in Paris.
